Homemade Laundry Soap
I've really been thinking seriously about doing this, so next grocery trip I'm going to get the stuff and I'll let you know how it goes :)
I didn't watch your video, because we make our own and I have my recipe memorized!
Homemade laundry soap is GREAT - so cheap and it works really well. I make a big 5 gallon bucket [about 3/4's full] and it lasts a few weeks and that is for a family of four with work clothes and teenagers. :)
Rick's clothes get so filthy that even store bought "heavy duty" laundry soap doesn't always get them clean, unless I use extra and scrub some right into the stains... so I've been hesitating to use this... but I suppose I can always still buy the heavy duty stuff for his clothes...
Hey Anita! I just made a huge batch of homemade laundry soap. I've used Tawra and Jill's recipe in the past, as well as Crystal's from Homestead Happenings. This time I used the Duggar (family of 18)recipe and I really like the way she puts it all together. They all use the same ingredients, just different processes for putting it all together. Anyhow, we have the same problem with DH's work clothes here as well and I just add a little bit more Borax to that load or a minute amount of oxyclean as a bit of a booster. I wrote a post a week or so ago about my detergent-making this time around and included a photo of my recycled "store bought" containers. Estimating that I saved about $54 making my own, I felt pretty good about the entire thing! Have fun making yours as well...
Anita - you can make it as explained and/or add the additions people suggested, but really?
Why would you even bother if you think that Rick's clothes won't come clean?
My husband's clothes get dirty too when he works as a mechanic in the field and I don't add anything different. His clothes still come clean. Plus teenagers? bah! :D
Besides - even if you buy the ingredients it is a nominal cost and you won't lose any money because you can use the borax in other loads of laundry.

Good luck! It is really easy and so economical.

I wish you the best, honestly.
95% of the laundry I do is NOT Rick's clothes...
