For Today...
Outside my Window..."Today: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 7am and 10am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. Light wind becoming southeast between 10 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms."
A high of 75 in August is unheard of here... Fall is coming in early - is that a warning of an early winter? We'll see!
(for some reason, that reminded me of Proverbs 31:21 - "She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet." The Message version: "She doesn't worry about her family when it snows; their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear." and THAT reminds me Isaiah needs new jeans! He's outgrown all but one pair from last year!)
I am thinking... I can't believe it's Monday again already!
I am thankful for...God having plans for us - so we don't have to worry!
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
From the kitchen...I'm putting fresh peaches in my oatmeal this morning - baking a peach cobbler this afternoon! Mom bought a big box of fresh Colorado peaches and shared them with us.
I am wearing...Still in my nightgown - it's 4:17 am and I'm just about to jump in the shower!
I am reading...The Circle of Simplicity: Return to the Good Life by Cecile Andrews
I am hoping...To get a new bag started today - and my kitchen cabinets cleaned and organized!
I am hearing...Harrison Edwards, "Earth Walk"
Around the house...Back to the weekday routine... laundry, homeschool, keeping house... Love to hear Isaiah reading from his chapter books - Currently it's a 3rd grade version of "Robinson Crusoe".
One of my favorite things... Rainy days
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week... finally getting that meeting with our banker about building a house - Rick is taking Friday off to work a whole day on the Florida Street house - Scrapbooking on Friday - stopping by the GreenTown office because I never get to see anyone AND because I need more information to get some stuff done on the website!
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...
A "Jungle" shot from the backyard of the Florida Street house... This is from about 6 weeks ago - nothing is this green around here anymore due to going so long with 105+ days and no rain! (click on it to see it full size!)

Wow! What a difference 100 miles makes. We haven't got out of the 80's for a few weeks now. Rains just about every day. It's the best August ever! I know it is coming. This freak weather can't last, but still. . .
We got 85/100 this weekend which is more than we've had in at least a month... FEMAville was brown and dusty!
That subtle change fall brings is already happening here. Nights are cool and mornings foggy. It feels good.
I love your green jungle picture! You always compose things so well.
Thank you!
Is is early for there - or does that "change" always start this time of year?
Fall is my favorite time of year - I love the colors, my fav holiday is Thanksgiving, I love the smell of the dry leaves... foggy mornings, rainy days... Just gorgeous!
I LOVE this Simple Woman Blog...
It is so much like a diary!
Hope this day will be so good for you...
love, bj
I love it too... and I was #2 on the Mister Linky today! Cool! :)
It will be a good day... Our routine is slowly coming back and I love the peacefulness of a routine...
I enjoy reading everyones daybook posts. It's fun to get a glimpse of other women's lives. And now I'm in the mood for peaches! Thankfully we just got some at the store yesterday. A peach cobbler sounds heavenly right now.
hi Emily!
I enjoy the daybooks, too...
The cobbler was the first thing I thought of when mom offered us those peaches!!
Anita, it's so nice to meet you. I've spent more hours praying and crocheting for your town than you really want to know.
Now, what's up with this. I went to KU. I've done Kansas in August. I'm in Minnesota and our high is 86 today and yours is 75...and I don't see that kind of weather coming anytime soon in our forcast. How ODD?? Isn't it supposed to be 100-110?
Nothing simple about you lady!
:-Daryl
Thanks for sharing your day with us, I enjoyed reading it :)
Love the photo too!
Anita, I so enjoyed reading your SWDB. The verses you quoted were so fitting. I like studying and re-studying Prov. 31:10-31. That verse about having herself and her household (or the things they'll need to be ready for winter) ready is where I want to be in my life. I want to have things prepared ahead of time. Don't you just love the idea of asking God to help us be as close to this Prov. 31 model as we possibly can?
Have a good day. I will explore your blogs some more. I've already looked at some posts on the other one.
kadezmom - Hi!
It IS odd! So odd, in fact, that it feels almost foreboding .. like a warning of a bad winter to come...lol But we've had 105+ for several weeks, and this is welcome, even if it's a warning!
Thanks for the knitting for Greensburg... was that for the afghans that were distributed at the Baptist Church?
Daryl - LOL... I'm more simple than you might think... :)
Hi Peculiar - :)
I know a lot of women are intimidated by Proberbs 31... but I don't look at it as how we should be right now, all the time, I look at it as what we should strive to be - a goal... and I know God doesn't ask anything of us that we can't achieve, so I love having it as a guide!
I enjoyed reading your daybook.
Everyone seems to be talking about the weather today.
I really enjoyed the scripture you added.
I enjoyed you song.
Come by and visit my blog and she my weather report!
Smiles,
Sherry
Hi Sherry!
I'm at a place in my life where things i hear during the day or even things I say remind me of certain scriptures... The bad thing is that I don't always remember where those scriptures are, so I hunt through the bible until I find them! These are some of my favorites...
I'm on my way to your blog now!
Nice to meet you. I do hope the meeting goes well at the bank. I know what you mean about the scenery not being green after a long, hot summer-it happens here in Australia too. The peaches sound yummy.
I have been enjoying some cooler temps too. Of course, I keep telling myself that the dog days and Indian Summer are still ahead of us. It's exciting to think fall though.
I'll be right over some peach oatmeal. lol You haven't enjoyed this crisp weather in the 70's-80's the past week??? You are right..fall is arriving fast and early. I noticed the sumac is turning! We are a little north of Greensburg, but some trees are getting a burnished look! Unbelievable. I enjoy your day book, and tell Isaiah he needs to stop growing too fast. lol. The mosquitos are huge and very hungry here...I am so ready for fall, but not a severe winter like last year.
I forgot your url to your real life blog...could ya email it or somethin hon? Thanks. Jen
OH! and my grapes are starting to turn! YEH!
Yeah! I can't wait to see the grapes...
We've enjoyed cooler weather, but not a high of 75!
