We went to my step-nephew's 8th grade promotion last night. It was nice. Because there were only 9 kids in the class, they gave a slide show with pictures of them as a class, and individual pictures of each of the kids from baby pics on up... They were all so cute! It made me sad, though, because I realized that I wouldn't have been able to do that if either of my kids were in the class - we have none of their baby pictures, or early years pictures, or even very many of their school pictures left after the tornado... I can picture in my head all the fabulous pictures we had of Lauren and Isaiah... Makes me sad to think about it...
ANYWAY... My sister had a party afterwards at the farm. It was a really nice, warm evening for it, but the mosquitoes were so bad we moved it indoors!
Roy got some great gifts... my sister and BIL got him a beautiful new saddle, and his grandparents bought him a new long, oiled riding coat. He got a new knife, and new seat covers for his truck he just bought... Farm kids get to drive earlier, as a town kid I never thought that was fair! lol... but he'll be working, so he'll need that transportation.
All-in-all it was a good evening... I didn't take my camera, I know I should have... wish I would have now, but I was just really tired and Rick and Isaiah were not getting around fast enough and we were almost late - I was just frustrated and said the heck with it, I'm not going to bother!
_______________
Rick and the guys have been working on the city swimming pool, getting it ready... it has no leaks after the tornado, but they have had to replace some stuff. They have it 2/3 full, and are trying to get the chlorine balance right... they "shocked" it 3 times yesterday (added straight chlorine) and the % goes up, but it always goes back down... Rick managed to dump straight chlorine down the side of his work jeans... I'm sure that's a pair that won't be coming back from the cleaners!!
The pool traditionally opens Memorial Day Weekend.
There are usually lots of things going on this weekend... The Alumni Banquet is Saturday evening. I've never been, and don't plan on going this year. Snobby dinners just aren't my style...
______________
I can't think of anything else to talk about... other than what I've mentioned above my days are all exactly alike...newspapers, homeschool, dishes, cooking, laundry, pet care, 3 or 4 hours of sleep every night and start over the next day at 3 am...:) It's kind of hard to keep anyone's attention that way....lol
I do have a blog I want you to check out... "Diary of an 1892 Farmer's Wife", a gentleman has posted all the entries from his Great Great Grandmother's journals, and while they are brief entries, they are so fascinating... check it out!

THIS is a GREAT picture!
Thanks! I do love Kansas sunrises and sunsets... :)
Nice picture!
What constitutes a snobby dinner?
Where people spend a lot of money on new clothes to wear to it, and talk all evening about how much money they make, griping about how much they have to pay to live above their means, bragging about everything they own, and comparing the long lists of extracurricular activities their stressed out children are doing, OH - and gossiping about everyone who isn't there... LOL
Cool new blog. I heard on the radio about a man who started a blog and was reprinting a soldier's letters (I think the soldier is related to the man) home on the day it was written, like civil war letters, or WWI letters or something like that. Think the guys name is Henry or something. I'll try to find it and post the link, if I can. I thought that was cool too.
That would be great if you could find the link - I'd like to read it.. :)
Yup, that's what I consider a snobby dinner too!
LOL.. :D
You always take the best photos .. in fact that's how I met you .. of course your interesting blogging brought me back again and again...
I know its not funny but there was a Simpsons (Husband LOVES them) where the family album burned up and Marge recreated all the photos ...not that I am suggesting you do that ....
;-Daryl
lol... I can imagine the looks on my family's faces if I suggested that... lol :)
Some of them might actually work except pretty much every house we've lived in including my mom's is gone too... lol
I do want to read that blog you mentioned. I always find it interesting how people back then worked really hard but they took time to visit each other, to attend programs at their churches and schools. Such a contrast to today when most people don't even have time to phone their friends regularly.
isn't that interesting?
Also, there is a place right at the beginning where she is sick one day, and better the next, and talks about how good God is... now days people would complain against him for being sick on the first day... :)
good morning, friend...glad you had a good time at the promotion party...i have a granddaughter going into high school and her party is friday nite....
i bloged about the lubbock tornado of 1970...and am sending folks over to you to read about the greensboro one....
I just started reading the journals of JOSEPHINE and it is sooo interesting...thanks for telling us about them...
You're welcome!
Don't you love her name!? :)
I swear I commented yesterday that i went to Target and found the frames in the size (I think) you need. I also said that I had a trip to Hobby Lobby planned and that I would check there too.
But, where oh where did I put that comment?
Ok, I found it. It was a story on NPR a while back. I'll email it to you because you might want to make a post with the story behind it and include the link ok? It's called: War Correspondence: Blogging Grandpa's Letters.
ok, emailed you at your hippie address. Do you get those? Let me know cuz I can send it somewhere else if you don't.
Cindy - LOL... Blogger has been screwing with my blog for a couple of weeks now... I don't know about anyone else's... Thanks for checking that out for me!! :)
